Focus of the observation
Nowadays we
can use many methods for teaching English in the classroom such as task base
learning, project base learning, content based learning, problem based
learning, etc. We can apply for our student for their learning. The propose student
to learn, enjoy learning and use in their real life situations.
Today we
observed teacher Rapeeporn Tongcherd. She
thought Mattayom1 Kanlayaneesithammarat School. Student has intermediary
knowledge because this class is study in English program. In this time teacher
teaches from the students’ book. The content about preposition and present
simple tense, teacher uses Thai and English language in classroom and she has
process teaching is clear because the most students understand the content,
which is a measure of tasks.
First
teaching strategies, teacher can have the process teaching by using 3P for this
time such as Warm up is teacher ask students a question individual. That’s can
make student concentrate in the class. They’ll prepare themselves for answer, Presentation
is she explains how to use preposition and present tense. She gives an example
to the student and uses both Thai and English language and practice is students
do exercise in this book and the task is homework making their own sentences by
using present simple tense.
Second, the
classroom management is students seating with their partner. Sometimes they
learn by help each other. The characteristics of students have different in
seat. Classroom behavior of students in the front of class will have diligent
for tech and ask questions when she doesn’t clear the content but in the back
of the classroom study behavior they were talking while teacher explained.
Next, types
of teaching activities for this class have individual activities. Teacher asks
a questions and random students to answer it by using English. Students will
have to concentrate in the class because they will make the answer before
teacher ask them.
Then, teacher
use of material is Access1 Student’s Book by Virginia Evans and Jenny Dooley
for Grade7. In the book content has a picture, grammar, exercise, conversation,
etc. and use a microphone for convenient communication but she doesn’t use
other material for teaching.
Another, teacher
teaches the structure in English. Sometimes she explains in Thai. Teacher tells
the students about vocabulary when they don’t know the meaning. Sometimes the
students don’t understand if the teacher use English too much.
The other, students
has the problems about pronunciation and the meaning of the word. Teacher has
to stimulate and tell them when they made mistakes but she doesn’t solve the
pronunciation when some student mispronounce.
And interaction,
from the student task is most of the student understand in content and can make
their own sentences. While working they interact with each other, exchange
opinion and giving their own opinion.
Finally, from the observation teacher Rapeeporn Tongcherd. Mattayom 1 Kanlayaneesithammarat
School. Students have background knowledge and they understand what teacher
though. Teacher uses the 3P technique for teaching in class room. She starts
the class with asking a question. She uses Thai and English in the
classroom. For students’ task, they do
homework by making their own sentences from the lesson. Students have
interaction in class. Teacher should support students to use English more in
class and teacher should have more materials especially authentic materials.
And from my
experience observation, I think I can apply this to my teaching such as
strategies of teaching, process teaching, control in classroom, etc. It can
develop for my teaching in next time.
